The Alpha Test Video #2
This demonstrates the new aesthetic and a work-in-progress narrator. Some of the VO:
- "Watch your step! Oop. You clumsy oaf, you! Good thing you're wearing a wingsuit." - Just flavor text.
- "Boom. Ninety KPH." - Player hits a maximum speed via accelerator.
- "You're at 10 lips." - Player's "kissed" 10 buildings.
- "20 lips."
- "We're coming up on halfway."
- "Niiiice." - Player "threads the needle."
- "30 lips."
- "35."
- "Ooh! Nice needle. Keep going." - Another needle.
- "Landing's coming up." - The player will shortly reach an "out-of-bounds" area.
- "50 lips."
- "Good! Hit the chute."
- "Safe, safe, safe, safe... Nice. Nicely done. AND you didn't even break any bones this time. Stay there; we'll come get you." - The player lands safely.

What I noticed from the video is it was a bit hard to understand him, and once you started falling fast enough, he started talking faster and more constantly. Hopefully, since this was a test this won't be the final result, or you'll allow players to choose between having all the information thrown at them, or none at all, or having the text he says come up so the player doesn't have to focus on what he is saying while simultaneously trying to fall.
Music was totally bitchin' though.

I annoy myself sometimes. And most games use audio as an afterthought. But we're hoping people will find the VO to actually be an informational thing -- if we do our job right, the guys back on solid ground will tell you that the landing zone's coming up, or that you're heading into a cloud layer, and that'll actually be useful.
...if we do it right. :)
